Techniques for Relaxation
The Art of Relaxation
There are many different techniques that help people to relax; each individual responds differently to these various techniques
Some people find a warm bath to be an effective means to relaxation. Others find that drinking tea or warm milk promotes relaxation. Aromatheraphy and physical relaxation routines, such as yoga and muscle-stretching, can be an effective way to achieve a relaxed state of mind, while others find relaxation through a variety of forms of hypnosis and self-hypnosis.
And many people find that certain kinds of background sound can be effectively used to promote relaxation.
A Technique for Relaxation
Deep Breathing
Deep breathing is a simple method of relaxation, but it is very effective. It is a key element of many relaxation techniques, from the "take ten deep breaths" approach to calming down, to yoga relaxation, and to meditation. It works well as a part of other relaxation techniques such as Progressive Muscular Relaxation, imagery relaxation, and meditation to reduce stress.
To use this technique, slowly take a number of deep breaths and slowly release them, relaxing your body further with each breath. It's as easy as that!
